Your first drone, end to end
This is the complete path: from typing a sentence to flying a real drone you built. Designing happens in the app; the rest happens at your bench. Each step links to a deeper guide.
First time with drones? Skim What you need before you order anything, and keep the Glossary handy for unfamiliar terms.
The big picture
Design it (in the app, ~5 min)
Open app.flydrona.com , describe the drone you want, pick from the options DRONA proposes, and let it validate the build. You end up with a complete, compatible design and a 3D model. See Designing in chat.
Order the parts (~15 min + shipping)
Open the Build tab. The bill of materials has a real buy link per line. Order the core parts, the consumables kit, and anything in “required separately” you don’t already own (radio, goggles, charger). See Order the parts.
Print the frame parts (optional, hours)
If your design has printed parts, export the plate and print them while you wait for shipping. See 3D print the parts.
Assemble it (an evening)
Follow the step-by-step assembly guide: mount the stack, solder the motors and power, install the camera and VTX. See Assemble it.
Flash and configure (~30 min)
Flash Betaflight, paste DRONA’s exported CLI config, and check motor directions and modes. See Flash Betaflight & wire.
First flight (carefully)
Range-check, do a props-off test, then a low hover in a safe, legal spot. See First flight & safety.
What you’ll have at the end
A drone you designed, understand, and can repair, plus the files to rebuild or
share it: the .vdx project, STLs, the Betaflight config, the wiring diagram,
and the bill of materials. See Exports & files.
You don’t have to do it all in one sitting. Save your build as a .vdx file at
any point and pick it back up later.
